Logistics & short value chains - policy debate

What would it take - in the CAP, the Farm-to-Fork Strategy and transport policy - to make short agri-food value chains the norm rather than the exception, and to improve logistics between rural producers and urban markets?

Insights from the first RURBANIVE policy workshop (26 May 2026), including the Prague-Suchdol food processing experience:

• Fragmentation comes less from a lack of initiatives than from weak coordination between existing actors and support structures.
• The position of small farmers in value chains needs strengthening.
• Practical training on food transformation, certification and the benefits of local and short supply chains helps build resilient local value chains and food startups.
